Instant Everest Trek

Overview

his 15-days trek offers excellent views of Everest (8,848m.) and the main peaks of the Khumbu without going to extreme altitudes. Explore the Sherpa villages of Kunde and Khumjung and enjoy the most spectacular view of Mount Everest looming behind Lotse Ridge and AmaDablam towering over the Monastery at Tengboche. This ten days trek has so many surprises packed into it that your only complaint will be that it ended too soon.

Moderate to difficult trekking and lodging from 2,805m to 3,985m with possible optional hikes up to 4,500m. Accommodation in comfortable lodges runs by Sherpa families. The trek starts with a flight from Kathmandu and includes services of experienced Sherpa trek guide and porters to carry luggage. Trekkers carry daypack only and walk at their own pace.

DAY 01: Arrival in Kathmandu [1,300m/4,264 ft]

Upon arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) in Kathmandu, You will be received by our representative and transferred to your Hotel. Evening is free to venture around the city close to your hotel. Briefing at the hotel in the evening.

DAY 02: Sightseeing – Swyambhunath Stupa and Bhaktapur City.

On a full day tour today we take you to several historical sites, which are considered World heritage site including the historic Durbar Squares in Kathmandu and Bhaktapur City, and the famous ‘Monkey Temple’ ?Swayambhunath. Unfortunately, the devastating earthquake of April 2015 has partially destroyed some of these monuments. However exploring these landmarks is a delightful experience that reflects the marvelous art and architecture of ancient period.

DAY 03: Day free for Trek preparation.

Full day is leisure for trek preparation.
Optional suggestion: One hour flight towards Mount Everest.
AM. We leave the morning free for those who would like to take an optional one-hour Mountain Flight towards Mount Everest and back.
The rest of the day is free to prepare for your trek or you may also enjoy a wonderful short hike to Nammobuddha that offers you a wonderful opportunity to flex and stretch your legs before your long trek or simply have a wonderful Buddhist cultural experience.Overnight: Hotel in Kathmandu.

DAY 04: Fly Kathmandu – Lukla(2,800m/9,186ft) – Phakding [2,652m/8,700ft]

We catch an early morning flight to Lukla (2,800m/9,186ft), from where our trek begins. We land at the Tenzing ? Hillary Airport carved out of a hillside surrounded by high mountains peaks after a 40 minutes flight. Our representative will receive you at Lukla airport upon arrival. We start our trek from here. Today we will just do a short hike till Phakding.

DAY 05: Phakding – Namche Bazaar [3440 m/11,280 ft]

The trail leads through pine forest as we climb up and down along the DudhKoshi River crossing several suspension bridges including the Hillary Suspension Bridge. Beyond Monjo is the entrance to the Sagarmatha National Park. A steady climb of about two hours after crossing the point of convergence of two mountain rivers ? DudhKoshi and BhoteKoshi Rivers to reach Chautara the viewpoint from where we can see Mt. Everest and It?s neighboring mountains Nuptse and Lhotse before continuing one more hour to reach NamcheBazzar.

DAY 06: Trek to Thame [3736m/12255 ft]

Today we climb east of Namche Bazar with the KongdeRi (6187 m) to the left and the rocky KhumbiYul La (5765 m) to the right and behind us stands the clearly visible KusumKanguru (6,373 m). After an hour?s downhill walk we make a stiff 50meters climb to the ridge. The trial further leads to the village of Phorte and then to Samde. After crossing BhoteKoshi river we ascent half hour more and reach Thame village.

DAY 07: Trek to Khumjung [3786m/12,419 ft]

Today, we trek to Khumjung from Thame. We climb up to the famous airstrip at Syangboche(4050m). Just above the airstrip is the Everest View Hotel. The Khumjung valley is surrounded by the snowy peaks of Kongde and Thamserku and the scared peak Khumbila. After having lunch we have free time to explore around the monastery at Khumjung and Edmund Hillary School.

DAY 08: Trek to Phortse[3542m/11,617 ft]

Phortse village is a farming village that lies in the Khumbu area south of Mt. Everest, off the main trekking routes. The trek to Phortse offers wonderful views of AmaDablam, Thamserku and Kangtanga among others. We stop for the night at Phortse.

DAY 09: Trek to Pangboche [3985m/ 13,070 ft]

Today we have a short but stiff climb on a steady trail along a ridge to Pangboche. We visit the Pangboche Gomba which is believed to hold the footprint of the Lama SangwaDorje. This is a typical Sherpa villages with houses built above the terraced fields on the slopes.

DAY 10: Trek to Tengboche [3864m/12,673 ft]

Today we head eastward to join the main trail to Everest Base Camp and descend to Tengboche. This area offers one of the best close up views of Ama-Dablam, Nuptse, and Everest. We visit the TengocheMonastery which is the biggestand the most important Buddhist monastery in the Khumbu region.Mani Rimduis an important festival in autumn every year,whichis observed herefor 3 main day from the first day of the tenth month of the Tibetan lunar calendar which falls between October and November under English calendar.
We visit the monastery and enjoy the rest of the day exploring and capturing some of the best shots.Walking time :approx 2-3 hours

DAY 11: Trek to Namche [3440m/11,280 ft]

From Tengboche, we trek down through the forest of rhododendron and juniper trees. We follow DudhKoshi gorge to continually descend down through the pine forests and eventually reach Sansa which is the major trail junction in the region. We stop at Kyangjuma (3570 m/11,710 ft) for a relaxed lunch. After lunch, we continue on to Namche Bazaar.

DAY 12: Namche Bazaar – Lukla [2,800m/9,186ft]

The final day is relatively easy as the trail descends steep down. After crossing the suspension bridges over the fast flowing DudhKoshi we continue on to Lukla. Though we are retracing our earlier route the view is still fabulous.

DAY 13: Fly Lukla to Kathmandu

Today, an early morning flight brings us back to Kathmandu to end our memorable trek to the region of the world’s highest peak. You have a full day just to relax or to pick up some souvenirs as you stroll down the Thamel area or also so called the freak street during the Hippy era.

DAY 14: Full day free to explore around Kathmandu

We enjoy the day at lisurely or catch up some last moment shopping or explore any landmarks we missed during our first day in Kathmandu. Transfer in the evening for a special farewell dinner hosted by the company.

Accomodation

We will be staying in a 3-star to 5-star hotel in Kathmandu and Pokhara and simple teahouses during the trek. Accommodations in Kathmandu, Pokhara and lower part of the trek will be on twin-shared basis. Single supplement can be served on as per the preference of the traveler on an additional single supplement cost that may vary according to the group size and category of hotel you choose to stay in. However it might be difficult to find single room at higher elevations and we need to consider the condition.
